deftly.vc welcomes LP, Mo Iqbal, [founder, SweatWorks]
Mo Iqbal, founder, SweatWorks. Also: avid runner, marathoner and company bootstrapper.

Congrats to Mo & SweatWorks for being recognized as one of Inc. Magazine's fastest growing startups for the 3rd straight year. A few words about his journey.

My founder story

Health and wellness has been a passion of mine since I was 13 years old.  Being an immigrant to the United States, it provided me with the tools necessary to vastly improve my quality of life.  After spending 10 years with a Fortune 500 company, I wanted to place my energies into my passion which was to help more people unlock their potential, as I have, through a healthy lifestyle.  Given my engineering background, the best way I knew how to contribute was with advancing digital initiatives for already established brands.  I founded SweatWorks in 2012 with the goal of helping brands take their consumers through a sustained wellness journey.

A SweatWorks deftly moment

During the early days of the company, we actually started to work on a white-label fitness app.  Our idea was to create a template that could be used by several brands on their digitization.  What we found was that each brand had a unique DNA that could not be captured in a general app.  After 3 months, we quickly pivoted into a product and design focused agency and focused on building subject matter expertise in wellness.

Why I joined the deftly community

Over the last decade, I have learned two key elements in early-stage investing:
1) Founders "get" Founders;
2) Founders are the key indicator to the success of a vision, especially in the early stages. The more around the table, the merrier.

Excited to have your backing. Welcome aboard Mo!
